Our Story

About The Heritage Hunter

A passion for place, people, and the stories that connect them.

Who We Are

The Heritage Hunter was founded by Beth, Scottish born and bred, and originally an archaeologist. A career spent in the field gave her a deep, practical understanding of landscape, material culture, and the layers of history that lie just beneath the surface of everyday Scotland.

It was her own curiosity about her family's history that drew her towards genealogy and archive work. Digging into parish registers, estate records, and census returns, she found the same thrill she had always felt on a dig, the moment a name becomes a person, and a person becomes a story. That curiosity has never left her.

Years of archive research, heritage consultancy, and time spent in Scotland's record offices, kirkyards, and landscapes have shaped everything The Heritage Hunter offers. Most tours and research projects are led personally by Beth, and that is very much by design. This is not a booking agency. When you come on a tour or commission a piece of research, you are working directly with someone who genuinely loves helping uncover your family's story.

What Drives Us

Curiosity

Every place has a story worth uncovering. We approach each journey with open eyes and an open mind.

Authenticity

We seek out the genuine, the unpolished, the overlooked, the real history behind the heritage sites.

Connection

Heritage is not just about the past. It is about understanding who we are and where we belong.
